Blue Whale - Ekphrastic Poetry for Rattle Poetry
I wrote this poem to go along with the art work of Nikki Zarate. Her painting reminded me of a day sailing on Ruby d'Eau when we picked up fifteen Mylar balloons floating in the Pacific Ocean.
Blue, she felt blue
The hue was new
Mylar tears
created her fears
Balloons spill
Float, sink, kill
Will the ocean be still
Beseeching her will
Clean pure
Can only endure
